Podcasting is certainly a interesting tool. For me it is very similar to blogging, the only difference is the subjects matter and the fact it is mainly audio. Doing a podcast is fun. It is definitely time consuming. One downfall, is the process can be somewhat confusing. Especially while using garage band, I often times had a hard time knowing how to do something. I also think it is hard because I don't have an actual thing I want to podcast about rather we are trying to find something random to talk about. That is just how I feel though. As of right now I am not completely confident to do podcasting, just because I have done so little of it. If down the road I do more of it, that is when I will feel comfortable.
My goal is to teach k-2 grade so I do not know how much podcasting the children will be doing. But if I do end up having my students podcast it would be great to have them reflect of something they have learned or something they are learning. Having a classroom podcast would be great because it would allow parents and other members of the community to have a glimpse of what the students are doing. I would also like to explore the possibility of them doing a podcast as part of a project. So that information they would like to share can be made public to other peers.
