Video Reflection

Watching everyone's videos today was such a blast. Everyone did such an amazing job! It was fun to see so many different creative projects. With such a short amount of time we had I was amazed on how good everyone's was. iMovie is pretty neat! There are so many tools you can use to make your video the way you want it. Even though we had such a short amount of time to learn how to use iMovie and then make a video plus the amount of stress that came with it, I think it was worthwhile! IMovie is going to be a great tool to use in my classroom and I will definitely find ways to incorporate it the best I can.

Now I would like to take some time to reflect on my experience making an iMovie. Starting out I was very confused and overwhelmed. I was so use to GarageBand and so things I wanted to do I couldn't do the way I knew how. I also was scared because you can't save your work like on GarageBand, rather it saves it for you. Maybe it is a little OCD, but I like clicking on a button called "save" because it makes me comfortable. Anyway, iMovie is very unique, from how it is set up and how the tools within the program work, it is all very different then what I am use too.

While playing around I was getting nervous. I kept thinking of the amount of time it was going to take me to make a video. So I was much relieved when I found out we could work in groups. It certainly puts less pressure on myself. Working with my group was fun! In such a short time frame we did a good job at organizing ourselves and our video. The first day (Tuesday) we all sat down after class and decided what our project was going to be on. We quickly came to the idea we used for our video and laid out the timeline on paper. Over the night the goal was to gather more things we wanted to incorporate plus images we want to use. On Wednesday it was important for us to work quickly and efficiently. We were able to film what we needed and put everything we wanted together. On Thursday we worked a little on getting all sections on iMovie in order. Thursday night we got together to work on transitions and the editing aspect. Overall, I think we work very well together! We had no problems and everyone contributed equally. I think that it didn't take that long to actually fix and perfect! Which amazed me, but hey! I am not complaining! I really like how our project turned out. I think we had a great idea and the images and music was the icing on the cake.

As for my contributions, we decided to use my computer to hold the video. One downfall on using one computer was that only one person could work at a time, but we seemed to make it work. Anyway, we also used my camera to video. I spent time doing a little of everything. The biggest thing was putting everything on to iMovie and then organizing within iMovie. I think organizing it how we did it made things a lot easier in the end. I had a blast working with my group and I would do it again anytime....if we had more time :-)
